Fernando Jara

Fernando Jara (born December 18, 1987 in Panama) is thoroughbred horse racing jockey in the United States. Jara had become a well-established jockey in Panama at the age of 15 and came to the United States in late December of 2003.

In 2006, he began riding for Sheik Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Shadwell Racing and rode their colt Jazil to a fourth place dead heat finish in the Kentucky Derby then captured the final leg of the Triple Crown with a victory in the Belmont Stakes. For Shadwell he also rode Invasor to wins in the Suburban and Whitney Handicaps plus the Breeders' Cup Classic and Dubai World Cup.

Represented by former jockey Randy Romero until February of 2007, Jara now partners with 24-year-old agent Gatewood Bell.

Kiaran McLaughlin

Kiaran P. McLaughlin (born November 15, 1960 in Lexington, Kentucky) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. Born in an area of the country where horse racing and breeding is preeminent, McLaughlin was a student at the University of Kentucky when he decided to give up his studies and pursue a career in the Thoroughbred horse racing industry. He spent close to three years as an assistant for various trainers before going to work for U.S. Racing Hall of Fame trainer, D. Wayne Lukas in 1985. In 1992 he became the agent for jockey Chris Antley, a job he held until November of 1993 when he signed on as the trainer for Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai.

In 2006, he trained Shadwell's colt Jazil, who won the Belmont Stakes, and had enormous success with Invasor, Shadwell's newly acquired four-year-old Argentinian colt. Invasor won several Grade I races in the U.S. including the Breeders' Cup Classic and was voted U.S. Horse of the Year honors plus earned the No.1 World Thoroughbred Racehorse Ranking. In March 2007 Invasor won the world's richest horse race, the Dubai World Cup. McLaughlin's 2006 season earned him the New York Turf Writers Association (NYTWA) C.V. Whitney Achievement Award and a share of the Red Smith "Good Guy" Award with fellow trainer Tom Albertrani.

Invasor

Invasor (foaled August 3, 2002) is a thoroughbred racehorse bred in Argentina by Haras Clausan. The winner of the 2005 Triple Crown in Uruguay, he was later purchased by Sheik Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum who paid approximately USD 1.4 million for the horse. His two biggest wins were the 2006 Breeders' Cup Classic, in which he defeated heavily favored Bernardini and highly fancied Lava Man, and the 2007 Dubai World Cup, the world's richest horse race. He was named the U.S. Horse of the Year and led the year-end World Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings in 2006.
