The Masters Tournament is one of four major championships in men's professional golf, its also known as The Masters, or The U.S. Masters outside of the United States. It is the first of the majors to be played each year, been scheduled for the first full week of April. Unlike the other major championships, the Masters is held each year at the Augusta National Golf Club, a private golf club in the city of Augusta, Georgia, in USA. The Masters was started by Clifford Roberts and Bobby Jones, who designed Augusta National with course architect Alister MacKenzie. The tournament is an official money event on the PGA Tour, the PGA European Tour and the Japan Golf Tour. The number of players is smaller than those of the other major championships because it is an invitational event, the entry its controlled by the Augusta National Golf Club.
This tournament has a lot of traditions, first a green jacket is awarded to the winner of each tournament, which must be returned to the clubhouse after a year. The Champions dinner, inaugurated by Ben Hogan, is held on the Tuesday before each tournament, this ceremony is only open to past champions and certain board members of the Augusta National Golf Club. Beginning in 1963 some legendary golfers, have hit a honorary tee shot on the morning of the first round. Such golfers have included Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, and Arnold Palmer, who has hit the tee shot the last two years. Since 1960 a semi-social Par 3 Contest, on a par-3 course on Augusta National's grounds, has been played on the day before the first round of each Masters Tournament.
Jack Nicklaus has won six times The Masters Tournament between 1963 and 1986, becoming the golfer with more Masters titles in history. Other multiple winners include Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods, with four apiece. The first non-American player to win the tournament was Gary Player from South Africa in 1961. The tournament organizers regularly extend the length and layout of the course to meet developments in equipment technology and player skill, this practice began after the arrival of Tiger Woods at the 1997 tournament.
The best strategy to golf betting is differentiating the two main wagering options, so we're here to serve as your gambling caddy and give you a lot of helpful tips on how to understand PGA golf odds. With golf, you can either bet on an individual to win a tournament or take part in "Matchup Betting" which involves wagering on artificially created golf matchups set by odds makers specifically for betting purposes.
The most common way to wager on golf is "Betting to Win" an outcome event like The Masters. Since golf has multiple tournaments over the course of a year, "Betting to Win" obviously offers numerous wagering opportunities. Its very important to keep in mind that not all the competitors in a PGA golf tournament may be individually listed to win, so another golf betting option is the "field" bet which includes all the other competitors not listed.
The Masters Golf is one of the main golf betting events of the season and is one of the most popular for punters. To bet on the US Masters allows you to either back or lay your selections. The Masters betting attracts all kinds of sports fans, in some cases people that may not even bet on any other golf odds all year aside from the Masters odds. Trevor John Immelman (born 16 December 1979) is a South African professional golfer and winner of the 2008 Masters Tournament.

On 13 December 2007, Immelman withdrew from the South African Airways Open due to severe discomfort around his ribcage area and a problem breathing. He went into surgery the following Tuesday, December 18, 2007, and doctors discovered a lesion approximately the size of a golf ball on his diaphragm. (Immelman remarked in an interview on the obvious irony of the size of the lesion). It was diagnosed as a calcified fibrosis tumor. After more tests they discovered that it was benign. Nevertheless, treatment and recovery caused him to miss the first eight weeks of the 2008 PGA Tour season. However, Immelman came back to win the 2008 Masters Tournament. Despite scoring a double bogey on the 70th hole, the par 3 16th, Immelman finished with a score of 8 under par, beating favorite Tiger Woods by three strokes.
Immelman has frequently participated in his mentor Gary Player's charity golf events around the world to help raise funds for needy children's causes.
