The PGA Tour is an organization that operates the USA's main professional golf tours for men golfers. It is headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, U.S.

PGA Golf Lines and Odds

The 2008 regular season will feature 49 events in 45 weeks, of which 48 are official money events, including four alternate events played the same week as a higher status tournament. The 49th event is the Ryder Cup team event. Most members of the tour play between 20 and 30 tournaments in the season. The geography of the tour is determined by the weather. It starts in Hawaii in January and spends most of its first two months in California and Arizona during what is known as the "West Coast Swing," and then moves to the American Southeast for the "Southern Swing." Each swing culminates in a significant tour event. In April, tour events begin to drift north. The summer months are spent mainly in the Northeast and the Midwest, and in the fall (autumn) the tour heads south again.

In most of the regular events on tour, the field is either 132, 144 or 156 players, depending on time of year (and available daylight hours). All players making the cut earn money for the tournament with the winner usually receiving 18% of the total purse.

The PGA's annual major championships are:

In 2008, the PGA Tour Policy Board approved a change in the number of players that will continue playing to the next rounds. The cut will continue to be low 70 professionals and ties, unless that results in a weekend field size of more than 78 players. Under that circumstance, the cut would be made to the number closest to 70. Players cut from playing the weekend in this instance with a placing of 70th or better will get credit for making the cut and will earn official money and FedEx Cup points. This policy affected two of the first three events with cuts, the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Buick Invitational. In late February, the Policy Board announced a revised cut policy, effective beginning with the Honda Classic. The new policy calls for 36-hole cut to the low 70 professionals and ties and, if that cut results in more than 78 players, a second 54-hole cut to the low 70 professionals and ties.

PGA Golf Betting Odds

The most basic form of golf betting involves picking the winner of a tournament. Typically a sports book will list 30 or more individual golfers along with a field (all others) option, at various odds.

For example, Tiger Woods may be listed at 2-1, Tom Lehman at 25-1, Bob May at 100-1, etc. If you bet $10 on Lehman at 25-1 and he goes on to win the tournament, you win $250 plus your $10 back, for a total payoff of $260.

PGA Golf Betting

Another popular form of golf betting involves matchup propositions, in which two golfers are paired against each other in a head to head wager, with a betting line on each golfer set by the oddsmaker. The golfer with the better (lower) score wins the matchup. (If one golfer continues play in the tournament after his opponent misses the cut, the golfer who continues play wins the matchup.)

Especially in major tournaments, some sports books offer odds on unusual golf propositions, such as the over/under on the winning score, the over/under on the lowest round by any golfer or the over/under on the finishing position by a particular golfer.

Useful Golf Betting Information

Outright Betting

All outright wagers are settled on the player winning the Tournament and includes any playoff. Should the Tournament be reduced from the scheduled number of holes any wagers placed after the final completed round will be void. If the scheduled number of holes in a Tournament are not completed all outright bets are void unless an official winner is declared, in which case outright bets will stand.

72 Holes Match Betting

The winner will be the player with the lowest score over 72 holes. Should one player make the cut and his opponent miss it, the player making the cut shall be deemed the winner.

If both players miss the cut the player with the lowest 2 round score shall be deemed the winner, if both players miss the cut on the same score the tie shall be deemed the winner.

Both players must tee off in the 1st Round for the wager to have action, should one player withdraw before the start of the tournament all bets shall be void.

Should a player retire or be disqualified whilst his opponent is still in the tournament his opponent will be deemed the winner.

All 72 holes match bets have a tie line. If after 72 holes both players are level the tie line is the winner and wagers on the individual players deemed losers. However if both players are tied for the lead after 72 holes the winner off the playoff will be deemed the winner of the 72 holes match bet.

If a tournament is reduced from the scheduled number of holes all match bets shall be void as long as both players are still in the tournament.

18 Holes Match Betting

The player scoring the lowest score over the 18 holes stated will be deemed the winner. Both players must tee off for the wager to have action. Should one player withdraw before the start of the round all wagers shall be void. Should a player retire or be disqualified during the round the remaining player shall be deemed the winner. Irrespective of scores at the time. A tie price is always quoted. Should both players shoot the same score over the 18 holes the tie line will be deemed the winner, and wagers on the named players losers. Note: Golf wagers on an event will still have action as long as the event is played within a week from the original schedule date or is played on the same tournament.

All props will be graded 2-4 hours after the event is completed.
